PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical member which can be freely arranged to a UV light-emitting lamp or the periphery thereof, is highly resistant to light of shorter wavelength than 300 nm, and is not mixed with the emission by 185 nm excitation light. SOLUTION: An optical member 2 is formed which is composed of a synthetic quartz glass containing Pr<SP>3+</SP>(trivalent praseodymium) activated aluminate, is a separate body from a UV light-emission lamp (low-pressure mercury lamp) 10, and is arranged around the UV light-emission lamp (low-pressure mercury lamp) 10.
