<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording material and an optical recording medium which can achieve all at a high level the recording/reproducing characteristics, light resistance and film forming properties of a recording layer with a good balance. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium 1 capable of recording information by the radiation of light, a recording layer 3 containing a chelate compound comprising an azo compound and a metal expressed by formula (1) and formula (2) is provided on a substrate 2 (wherein, A and B express atomic groups constituting an aromatic ring; X<SP>1</SP>expresses a residue after removing two activated hydrogen atoms from a functional group having two or more activated hydrogen atoms; X<SP>2</SP>expresses a residue after removing one activated hydrogen atom from a functional group having one or more activated hydrogen atoms; and Y<SP>1</SP>expresses a substituent). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
