<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly separate a separable joint part for joining a second base cloth by load by pressure of gas and to enhance occupant restriction performance by optionally controlling inner pressure of an air bag in deployment process. <P>SOLUTION: The air bag device is constituted such that the air bag 32 constituted by sewing outer peripheral parts 38 of two sheets of base cloths 37 is sewn by a sewing part 39 extending in the shape of swirl from a central part of the base cloth 37 toward the outer peripheral part. Thereby, when the gas generated by an inflator so as to inflate the air bag 32 is fed to a central opening 37a of the base cloth 37, the sewing part 39 is successively broken and separated from the central part toward the outer peripheral part by the load by pressure of the gas. Therefore, not only the occupant can be softly restricted by preventing deployment at one stretch of the air bag 32 in the longitudinal direction at initial stage of deployment but also sufficient restriction force can be exhibited by deploying the air bag 32 to the flat final shape in the longitudinal direction when the separation of the sewing part 39 is completed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
