<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin composition which is excellent in gas-barrier property, and its preparation method. <P>SOLUTION: The polyester resin composition comprises 0.1-20 pts.wt. at least one compound of formula (1): HO-R-O-Ar-CO-X-R' or formula (2): HO-(CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>-O)<SB>n</SB>-Ar-CO-X-R' [wherein Ar is a group chosen from optionally substituted phenylene and naphthalene groups; n is an integer of 1-6; R is an optionally branched 3-20C alkylene group; X is a group chosen from -NH- and -O-; R' is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower alkyl halide group and an optionally substituted benzyl group; and the substituent optionally present in Ar or R' is a group chosen from a lower alkyl group, a halogenated lower alkyl group and optionally substituted benzyl group.
