PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus, in which the depth dimension in the optical axis direction of a lens can be made small, without making the size in the radial direction of the lens large. SOLUTION: A shutter device 2 of the imaging apparatus 1 is disposed between an objective lens 5a and a 1st lens barrel 4a, a shutter blade 15 and an opening/closing drive section 19 for performing opening/closing operation of the shutter blade 15 are disposed on one side from a virtual line B, extending in a direction orthogonal to the lens optical axis A or installed near the virtual line B and the area of the other side from the virtual line B is made smaller. Further actuators 8, 8 for carrying out transfer operation of the lens barrels 4a, 4b in the direction of the lens optical axis A are disposed near the other side of the shutter device 2 with the area made smaller and thereby the depth dimension can be made small.
