PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly corrosion resistant plated steel wire having corrosion resistance higher than that of non-added Al-Zn plated steel wire, and to provide a method of stably producing the plated steel wire having high corrosion resistance. SOLUTION: The plated steel wire having high corrosion resistance and high workability is composed of a Zn-Al-Mn plating layer and a Zn-Al-Mn-Fe intermediate layer. The compositional ratios (average weight%) of Mn, Al and Zn in the plating layer and the intermediate layer satisfy 0.02 to 0.30 wt.% Mn, 8 to 25 wt.% Al, and the balance Zn with inevitable components such as Fe. In the method of producing the plated steel wire, the composition of Mn in a Zn-Al-Mn plating bath is controlled to 2 to 5 times the sticking composition of Mn in the plated wire to be produced, and wire rod is passed through the Zn-Al-Mn plating bath having a high concentration. Thus, the plated wire composed of the Zn-Al-Mn plating layer and the Zn-Al-Mn-Fe intermediate layer is produced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
