PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device for a vehicle capable of automatically transferring an air bag unit from a first position to a second position approaching to an occupant by predicting collision of the vehicle and reducing deployment force of the air bag rearwardly deployed at collision of the vehicle. SOLUTION: The air bag device for the vehicle is constituted such that an air bag movement mechanism 21 for moving the air bag unit 20 with a steering wheel 2 from the first position to the second position approaching to the occupant than the first position is provided, when the collision of the vehicle is predicted, the air bag unit 20 is automatically moved from the first position to the second position, and at the collision of the vehicle, the air bag 31 is rearwardly deployed from the steering wheel 2.
