The valley fastening for the mechanical linear fastening of insulating materials and sealing sheets on flat roofs has a rail with through-openings in the rail base. A screw (1) is fitted in one of the through-openings and is supported by its head (3) on the rails and by its point cuts into the roof sub-structure or protrudes into a dowel anchoring therein. On both sides of each through-opening are oppositely disposed raised support ribs or protrusions upon which the screw head bears by its underside.
