<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for use in dental articulation by which any corrections required to establish a correct occlusion contact and an optimal cuspis dentis/lacunae relationship between the teeth of the upper dental arch and those of the lower dental arch can be carried out after a dental practitioner examines a patient's dental articulation. <P>SOLUTION: This method includes (1) a preparation stage of a first set of digital data corresponding to an upper arch image of the upper dental arch of the patient, (2) a preparation stage of a second set of digital data corresponding to the lower arch image of the lower dental arch of the patient, (3) a preparation stage of hinge axis data representative of a spatial orientation of the upper and lower dental arches relative to a condylar axis of the patient, (4) a preparation stage of bite alignment data representative of a spatial relationship between the upper and lower dental arches of the patient, (5) a stage to align the lower and upper arch images based on the bite alignment data, and (6) a creation stage of a reference hinge axis relative to the upper and lower arch images based on the hinge axis data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
