<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector in which a plurality of signal contacts are constructed into a unit of two signal contacts making a differential pair, and a plurality of contact modules that can prevent cross talk and have a simple structure and are convenient in manufacturing and assembly are provided in parallel. <P>SOLUTION: A first grounding plate 14 is housed in a slit 12 of a first housing 5 of a plug connector and a second grounding plate 15 is housed in a slit 13. The surface 39 for connecting two signal contacts 16 making a differential pair crosses at right angles the center surface 38 at an intersection 40. The contact parts 19 of the first and the second grounding plates are respectively arranged in the vicinity of two corners or four corners diagonal to the first and the second grounding plates surrounding the two signal contacts in lattice form.
