<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, having a plurality of developing devices as an image forming means, and having an image formation mode including two kinds of modes, that is, a first mode for conducting image formation by use of a plurality of development devices and a second mode for conducting image formation by the use of only a prescribed developing device in the developing devices, and realizing the shortening of set-up time, when the image formation by use of only the prescribed development device as the second mode. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus having a plurality of developing devices as the image forming means, and having the image formation mode, including two kinds of modes, that is, the first mode for conducting the image formation by use of the plurality of development devices, and the second mode for conducting the image formation by use of only the prescribed development device in the development devices, a control means controls the preparation operation of the prescribed development device to be performed earlier than that of the development devices other than the prescribed development device in the plurality of development devices, and the image formation in the second mode can be done earlier than the first mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
