PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variation of the quantity of illuminating light to an illumination object, which is caused by the influence of flare light, and to suppress the reduction of image read precision caused by the influence of flare light. SOLUTION: A lighting system is provided with; a plurality of point light sources 32 which are linearly arranged and illuminate an illumination object D; a light condensing body 33 which is arranged in the front in the emission direction of light emitted from the point light sources 32 and linearly condenses light emitted from the point light source 32 toward the illumination object D; and a control part 37 which is placed on an optical path advancing from the side of the point light sources 32 toward the illumination object D and controls advancement of at least one of reflected light from the illumination object D and flare light advancing toward the illumination object D, in a position being along the arrangement direction of the point light sources. Since advancement of at least one of reflected light from the illumination object D and flare light advancing toward the illumination object D is controlled by the control part 37, flare light illuminating the illumination object D can be reduced by this control, and the variation of the quantity of illuminating light to the illumination object D, which is caused by the influence of flare light, can be suppressed.
