PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel finalizing and recording inhibition method of "no limitation on a recording system" without losing the characteristics of "no finalizing occurs or no long time is necessary", and "revision is inhibited" for an optical disk recording/playback device. SOLUTION: In the optical disk recording/playback device, the problem is solved by managing the address of recording data indicating an outermost periphery to be managed by the device and setting all unrecorded areas more inside than the outermost recording address managed during recording inhibition processing (finalizing) as recorded areas.
