Anastomotic leak tester (50) for testing for leaks in an anastomosis in a patient including an insufflation bulb (24) having a compressible portion (24a) and a mechanism (30,34) for providing a uni-directional flow of air through the compressible portion (24a) upon intermittent compressing thereof, and an air introduction device (10) including an body having an interior space, a proximal portion (14) having an opening communicating with the interior space and adapted to be inserted into an anus of the patient and a distal portion (16) arranged to engage with the insufflation bulb (24). Upon compression of the compressible portion (24a) of the insufflation bulb (24), air flows through the insufflation bulb (24) into the interior space of the body and through the opening into the patient's bowel. The air introduction device (10) may be dip molded in one piece to form a single use, disposable product. |
