METHOD FOR DETERMINING A VIRUS CONCENTRATION IN A LIQUID BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL

The invention relates to biotechnology. The inventive method for determining a virus concentration in a liquid biological material consists in preselecting test cells exhibiting a high specificity with respect to a studied type of virus, in determining a mean virus number required for infecting said cells, in sampling the studied liquid material for detecting a presence of viruses, dissolving said samples to a specified ratio, mixing the thus dissolved samples with a test cell suspension in a discount well at a specified cell concentration, in transferring the mixture of the studied material samples to a measuring chamber provided with electrodes, in forming an alternating electric field in said chamber between the electrodes thereof and in subsequently determining the virus concentration. Prier to the formation of the alternating electric field in the chamber, the total cell quantity in the observation area selected under a microscope between the electrodes of said chamber is calculated, after exposing the cell suspension to the alternating electric field action during a time which is sufficient for the lysis of intact cells, the number of cells remaining in the observation area selected under the microscope between the electrodes of the chamber is calculated and the part of the cells resistant to the alternating electric field and the virus concentration in the liquid biological material are determined according to calculating formulas.
