Shredded material is fed into an injection machine cylinder with a screw core having a spiral flight and working zones along the length. Material is homogenized in a feed and compression section and pumped as a melt via a conveying section to a cylinder outlet. Gaseous contaminants are extracted from the melt by degassing in a cleaning section between the compression and transporting sections.
