EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which residual quantity of particulates deposited in a filter can be surely detected during regeneration of a filter.

SOLUTION: When an operating condition of an internal combustion engine is brought into a deceleration operating state under which fuel supply to an internal combustion engine is stopped to be decelerated during regeneration of a filter (S102), the deposition quantity of particulates in the filter is estimated from changes in the intake air quantity and the filter temperature before and after the operating condition of an internal combustion engine is brought into the deceleration operating state (106).
