PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device preventing breakdown of a sealing material in current-carrying heating and capable of efficiently and reliably sealing, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A front substrate 11 and a rear substrate faced through a gap are sealed in a prescribed position by a sealing part 33, and a sealed space is prescribed between the substrates. The sealing part has primary coats 31a, 31b formed on an inner surface of at least one substrate and a sealing layer 32 formed with the sealing material having conductivity on the primary coats.
