PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for a gas engine preventing deterioration of engine performance and drivability and degradation of exhaust emission and reducing fuel consumption rate caused by occurrence of knocking, and reducing thermal stress of an piston outer circumference shoulder part and preventing burning thereof by improving cooling effect of the piston outer circumference shoulder part, lowering height position of a first piston ring to reduce volume in a gap at a upper part of the ring, and reducing unburnt gas quantity staying in the gap at the upper part of the ring. SOLUTION: In the piston of the gas engine, a combustion chamber is constructed to continuously increase depth from outer circumference upper part of a combustion surface to a center part, thickness of a crown plate between a combustion surface and an upper surface of the cooling chamber is made constant thickness, and thickness of am outer circumference annular part formed between an outer circumference surface of the cooling chamber and a ring groove inner circumference is made smaller than thickness of the crown plate.
