PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system configured of a computer and a storage device which stores data to be used by the computer for managing a data storage area correspondingly to the fact that performance or availability required for the data storage area changes with the lapse of a time. SOLUTION: This computer is provided with a storage device management means for managing the storage device for storing data to be used by the computer. The storage device management means periodically monitors time characteristic information, and when a storage area having functional characteristics corresponding to the time characteristic information is different from the storage area to which data are assigned at present, data movement is executed.
