The forward feed device is for a saw blade, where the blade is fed forward in stages, with a feed hook (10) for activating the movement of the saw blade in the machine during the work process. Pick-ups (11) impart a forward and backward movement to the feed hook whilst work is proceeding. A drive motor (12) provides the forward and backward movements in the pick-ups in accordance with a preconceived program dependent upon the formation of the saw blade. Levers (13) are rotatably anchored in the pick-ups, between the drive motor and the feed hook. The levers at their one end are rotatably anchored in the pick-ups and in their rear end are rotatably anchored in an intermediate piece (14), which is movably arranged along a rotatable first screw (15).
