An end-over-end type powder mixer has a double conical mixing container 1 to one end of which is attached a charging container 4 into which, when in its lowest position, material for mixing is charged through the inlet 7. The mixing container is then rotated so that the charging container 4 is uppermost, the inlet valve 5 being opened and closed to discharge material into the mixing container. The charging operation is repeated for each component of the mix. The inlet valve 5 is actuated by turning a handle 9 which may be done automatically by means of pins 10, 11. The automatic valve actuating mechanism may be secured in an inoperative position during the mixing operation, see Fig. 2 (not shown); the mixer is discharged through the outlet valve 6.
