The engine has a throttling unit (19) provided on an exhaust gas inlet at a turbine wheel (37). The degree of opening of the unit (19) is chosen such that exhaust gas pressure remains lower than supercharged pressure. Air-gas mixture is completely admitted into a turbine (3), when derived air flow is desired. An outer wall of the turbine is maintained at low temperature by an inner air film (47).
