PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external heat insulating method applicable to an overhanging portion, according to which tie reinforcements can be arranged according to the arrangement of reinforcements of a housing skeleton, and a heat insulator can be arranged according to the size and shape of the overhanging portion. SOLUTION: According to the external heat insulating method applicable to the overhanging portion, the heat insulator 6 having a plurality of notched grooves 4, 5 or installation holes formed therein, is set on a skeleton form 15 at a location at which the overhanging portion is formed, and thereafter a reinforcement mounting jig 8 is arranged in the notched grooves so as extend be astride the hanging portion and the skeleton.
