VERTICAL TYPE CONTINUOUS CASTING APPARATUS FOR ALUMINUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical type continuous casting apparatus for aluminum having high productivity with which segregation of alloy elements is eliminated and the continuous casting can be operated at substantially longer than the operating time in the case of operating with the conventional semi-continuous casting method. SOLUTION: The vertical type continuous casting apparatus 1 for aluminum comprises: a water-cooling mold 4 and a lower mold 120 for pouring molten aluminum (m) from the above; a cutting-off means 90 which is positioned below the mold 4 and is lowered synchronizedly with a cast material M of the aluminum lowering from this mold 4; an elevating/lowering base 66 to which a grip 70 for holding the cutting-off means 90 and the cast material M; and a bar-like lower mold 120 which is made in contact with the bottom surface of the cast material M, has the almost same cross sectional surface as the cast material M and is lowered synchronously with the cast material M.
