PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printer and a positioning method for a recording head, which enable costs to be reduced without an increase in hardware and mechanical constitution, and which enable the simple and sure performance of inclination measurement for positioning of the recording head. SOLUTION: In terms of this positioning method for the recording head of the inkjet printer 1, the inkjet printer is equipped with a recording-medium carrying mechanism 3 for carrying a recording medium 99 in a prescribed carrying direction A, the recording heads 5, 6, 7 and 8 wherein nozzles for ejecting ink onto the recording medium are arranged in the carrying direction, and a carriage 11 which is equipped with at least one recording head and which can freely be moved in a scanning direction B orthogonal to the carrying direction. The carriage is put into the state of being stopped in a predetermined position, and the ink is ejected onto the recording medium from the nozzles of the recording head mounted on the carriage in the stopped state, while the recording medium is carried, so that a recording pattern for measuring an inclination in the nozzle arrangement direction of the recording head and the carrying direction of the recording medium can be formed.
