A scribe line forming mechanism has scribe line forming means (207) and supporting means. The scribe line forming means (207) is constructed to form a scribe line on a substrate by coming into contact with the substrate. The supporting means is means for supporting the scribe line forming means so as to be pivotable about a first pivot shaft (204) and is constructed to be pivotable about a second pivot shaft (202) different from the first pivot shaft. In the above, the axis of the first pivot shaft and the axis of the second pivot shaft are substantially parallel, and the axis of the second pivot shaft is separated by a predetermined distance from a portion where the substrate and the scribe line forming means are in contact with each other.
