PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a nonflammable timber plate where 14mm or more in thickness which conventionally has made the manufacture most difficult, for example, a timber plate with a thickness of 24mm by which refractory treatment is carried out can be manufactured easily. SOLUTION: After drying a timber plate with a thickness of 6-30 mm and making with 5 or less wt.% of water content, this timber plate is immersed in a refractory agent solution which consists of a mixture solution of either boric acid of 40-70°C of liquid temperature and water-soluble borates, or both, water-soluble phosphate salt, and water-soluble alkali metal silicate for 6 to 72 hours under decompression, subsequently, the above-mentioned timber plate is picked out from the refractory agent solution, and dried for 1-30 days in normal temperature, further, it is dried for 5 hours to nine days at 30-80°C. The nonflammable timber plate is manufactured by that the above-mentioned timber plate is made with 18 or less wt.% of water content. The above-mentioned refractory agent solution is preferred to consist of a compound liquid with the 1st solution of 80-99 vol.% which consists of water of 100 pts.wt., pyroborate of 30-50 pts.wt., boric acid of 10-30 pts.wt., and sodium hydrogenphosphate of 10-30 pts.wt. and an alkali metal silicate solution of 20-1 vol.%.
