<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus provided with a shutter member protecting a photoreceptor drum so that it is not exposed even in the middle of an opening or closing action of an opening and closing cover. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a photoreceptor drum 6, an opening part 4 of a storing space 3, storing the photoreceptor 6, an opening and closing cover 5 covering the opening part 4 and opening and closing in an arc with an axis as the center, which is in parallel to a rotating shaft of the photoreceptor drum 6 and a shutter member 7 carrying out a closing action along the rotating direction of the photoreceptor drum 6 so that the photoreceptor drum 6 is in an unexposed closed state when the opening and closing cover 5 is opened.
