PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for electric double layer capacitor exhibiting very excellent adhesion between an electrode layer and an aluminium etching foil current collector. SOLUTION: The electrode for a capacitor comprises a current collector, an undercoat layer on the current collector, and an electrode layer on the undercoat layer wherein the current collector consists of an etching aluminium foil, the undercoat layer contains at least conductive particles (P) and a binder (B) at a weight ratio of P/B=0.25-2.33, the binder (B) principally comprises a polymer containing fluorine, and the electrode layer contains at least a carbon material and a binder.
