PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent data contents of other information recording media from being illegally copied to a recordable information recording medium. SOLUTION: A control data area is included in a lead-in area of DVD-RW, which has the same data structure over 192 ECC blocks. Each ECC block is constituted of 16 sectors (a sector 0-a sector 15), and each sector is further constituted of 26 sink frames (a SF1-a SF 26). A prerecorded area is fixed, where a link start SP is the 16th byte of the SF1 in the sector 0, and a link end point EP is the 15th byte of a SF9 in a sector 2, and prerecorded data, for example, which are all zero, are recorded here. Since the prerecorded data is formed as an embossed pit row in the case of DVD-RW, it becomes impossible to overwrite another data after that. Therefore, the copy of information required for reproducing control, such scramble key data, becomes impossible, and an illegal copy is effectively prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
