PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary magnetic head type recording and reproducing device which realizes a multichannel head without increasing signal cross talk in a rotary transformer mounted in a rotating drum. SOLUTION: A rotary transformer 20 consists of a channel 7 for a recording signal to which the signal for recording is transmitted, a channel 801 for a reproducing signal to which an output signal for the magnetic head for reproduction selected only at the time of reproduction is transmitted, and a channel 802 for the reproducing signal selected at the time of recording and reproducing. At the time of the recording, an output buffer circuit 18 for a reproducing amplifier 401, to which the output signal from the magnetic head for the reproduction selected only at the time of the reproduction is transmitted, is turned off.
