An adaptor (1) for fitting a rotor blade onto a hub of a wind powered generator has one mounting flange (7) for fitting onto the hub (2) and a second mounting flange (4) for fitting the blade. A compact fitting has at least one integral load sensor (17, 18) connected to an integral processor (19) which controls an integral pitch adjusting servo motor (13). The load sensors comprise compact strain gauge strips applied to the inside wall of the adaptor. The adaptor is fitted onto the hub via a bearing and a circular rack and pinion gearing. An emergency power supply (20) prevents damage to the rotor in the event of a power failure.
