<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease an effect of a component, even when the component which produces the effect on measurement of a number of microorganisms is contained in a specimen. <P>SOLUTION: A method for measuring the number of the microorganisms comprises steps 101 to 105 as follows: a diluent containing cobalt phthalocyanine tetracarboxylic acid is prepared (step 101); a specimen solution is prepared by subjecting a specimen to stomaching treatment with the prepared diluent and simultaneously diluting the specimen into a prescribed concentration (step 102), so that a sulfur compound contained in the specimen is absorbed to the cobalt phthalocyanine tetracarboxylic acid in the treatment, though being diffused through the diluent, and loses its bacteriostatic action; then the specimen solution is added to a liquid medium, such as a physiological saline solution (step 103), and the liquid medium containing the specimen solution is poured into a measuring cell having an oxygen electrode in its inside (step 104), for the purpose of conducting measurement of the number of microorganism by an oxygen electrode procedure; further the measuring cell is set to a measuring apparatus; and finally the measurement of the number of the microorganisms is started (step 105). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
