<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an oxygen absorbent exhibiting high oxygen absorbing ability without necessitatings thereto the addition of a transition metal salt as a catalyst to accelerate the oxygen absorbing ability and retaining high mechanical strengths even after absorbing oxygen. <P>SOLUTION: This oxygen absorbent contains as an active ingredient a product of the cyclization of a conjugate dien polymer. The cyclization product preferably has a percentage decrease in unsaturated-bond amount of 10% or higher and a wight-average molecular weight of 1,000-100,000. The oxygen absorbent further preferably contains a thermoplastic resin. The content of an anti-oxidant in the oxygen absorbent is preferably≤500 ppm.
