PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass spectrometer having a ion mirror, in which a mass filter is installed for accelerating at right angle. SOLUTION: In the mass filter having an orthogonal acceleration electrode 9, an ion that enters into the mass filter is accelerated at right angle by the orthogonal acceleration electrode 9 in a first acceleration region 2 to enters into a flying space 3. Ions 6, 7, and 8 reflected by a reflectron 4 direct to the exit of the mass filter. Ions having a required mass charge ratio are arranged to arrive at the first acceleration region 2 when a voltage pulse applied by the orthogonal acceleration electrode 9 is in between the maximum to zero. The ions having the required mass charge ratio are decelerated at right angle as they have a zero velocity component in the right angle.
