PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector that is equipped with a retainer and prevents the retainer from moving accidentally. SOLUTION: In a housing 10, the retainer 30 having a pair of side plates 32 is attached so as to astride in horizontal widthwise direction, and both side plates 32 are attached so as to overhang from the side of the housing 10 as well. On the side of the housing 10, since protective barriers 27, 28 are provided to protrude around a movement region (a holding recess 21) of the side plates 32 of the retainer 30, the retainer 30 is prevented from moving accidentally by preventing foreign materials or the like from hitting it. Also, since jig insertion holes 29 are formed in the protective barriers 27, 28, by notching one part thereof, the disengagement operation of the side plates 32 of the retainer 30 is performed by inserting a jig J from the tool insertion holes 29.
