PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sealing material lowering permeability of carbon dioxide gas, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the gas sealing material covering the outer peripheral surface of a ring-like core 2 with an elastic body 1, the core 2 is formed of at least one of organic fiber and metal. It is preferable that the core 2 has a joint part 3 joining both ends of a linear member formed of at least one of the organic fiber and metal. A method of manufacturing the gas sealing material comprises a process for applying unvulcanized rubber to the outer peripheral surface of the linear member formed of at least one of the organic fiber and metal, a process for joining both ends of the linear member, and a process for vulcanizing the unvulcanized rubber.
