PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of a surface treatment device 1 by reducing the number of elevating/lowering means 6 for elevating/lowering a work 2. SOLUTION: The elevating/lowering means 6 in the surface treatment device 1 are arranged on the toe parts b11, b21 and b31 at which the work 2 can be charged to treatment tanks (a chemical tank 3 and a washing tank 4) and termination positions b13, b22 and b32 at which the work 2 can be pulled up from the treatment tanks. In this way, the elevating/lowering means 6 are arranged at the positions in a lowest limit to be required for the elevating/lowering of the work 2, thus there is no need of circulating the elevating/lowering means 6 together with holding means holding the work 2 as shown in the conventional case. As a result, the number of the elevating/lowering means 6 to be required per surface treatment device 1 can be remarkably reduced, thus the cost of the surface treatment device 1 can be reduced.
