PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aluminate fluorescent substance at a reduced production cost which allows the substance to have a homogenized composition and improved emission intensity. SOLUTION: The method comprises adding two or more kinds of precipitants into a solution containing all the metal cations composing the aluminate fluorescent substance in order to precipitate the metal cations, and separating to collect a resultant precipitate, followed by drying to get an aluminate fluorescent substance precursor, which is then fired to obtain the aluminate fluorescent substance.
