PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information provision system for simultaneously and surely obtaining accurate information changing in real time, and also to provide a communication terminal. SOLUTION: The information provision system comprises: a system server 4 for managing information relating to a radio base station for connecting a portable telephone for providing the information, specifying a position to which the information requested from the portable telephone belongs and specifying the radio base station of an area to which the position belongs; an exchange 3 for establishing connection with the portable telephone present in the area covered by the radio base station specified in the system server 4; and a mail server 6 for transmitting electronic mail including a message requesting peripheral information to the portable telephone with which the connection is established, receiving the electronic mail returned from the portable telephone, and transmitting the electronic mail including the information sent from the portable telephone to the portable telephone which requests the information.
