PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic power steering device capable of preventing degradation of the steering feeling by a simple configuration when preventing the steering auxiliary force from getting excessive at the steering limit. SOLUTION: In the hydraulic power steering device, one of a pair of oil chambers to be partitioned by a piston reciprocating in a cylinder according to the steering is of a high pressure condition, and the other is of a low pressure condition, and the steering auxiliary force is provided thereto. When the piston reaches a vicinity of each moving end, both oil chambers are communicated with each other via a space between a seal part 13a of the outer circumference of the piston and inner surfaces of a plurality of recessed parts 30 circumferentially-spaced on the inner circumference of the cylinder. One end of at least one recessed part 30 and one end of the remaining recessed parts 30 are arranged offset to each other in the axial direction of the cylinder so that the position at which a space starts to build up between an inner surface of one end of at least one recessed part 30 and the seal part 13a and the position at which a space starts to build up between an inner surface of one end of the remaining recessed parts 30 and the seal part 13a are different from each other in the axial direction of the cylinder at each vicinity of each moving end of the piston.
