<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a display device making an image bright as a whole by reducing a current capacity flowing to a panel when the luminance of the displayed image is high, and increasing when the luminance is low, while protecting organic EL elements or battery. <P>SOLUTION: It is found that rise of temperature of a device increases in proportion to the current value flowing to the device and the flowing time of the current. Therefore, the current capacity flowing to the device is detected by using a driving method controlling lighting rate of the device from display image data. The current capacity is suppressed to prevent the rise of temperature by determining the device state by calculating an average current capacity within a certain period using a memory means like an FIFO memory, and controlling a maximum value and a minimum value of the lighting rate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
