<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type image display technology or a rear projection type image display technology by which a bright screen with high chroma is obtained and the reliability of optical components is also ensured. <P>SOLUTION: A synthesizing means for synthesizing the colors of modulated light rays emitted from an image display device is constructed so that among modulated red, green, and blue polarization light rays, the blue polarization light ray is transmitted through the means with highest transmittance including reflection from a reflective film inside or a largest quantity of light emitted. In addition, as the rear projection type image display technology, a screen unit in which the transmittance of at least blue light is approximately 75% or more is provided in addition to the synthesizing means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
