<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for measuring the distance between vehicles having higher accuracy rather than that of a conventional apparatus without evolving an additional expense by using an existing facility. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for measuring the distance between the vehicles comprises: a first receiver means receiving information on an advanced vehicle transmitted on air from a vehicle driving in the front of a subject vehicle on the same driving lane; a second receiver means receiving information on a road shoulder side transmitter transmitted on air from the road-side transmitter installed on the road shoulder side of a road; a calculating means calculating the distance between the advanced vehicle and the subject vehicle; and a transmitter means transmitting on-air information on a driving speed, the distance between the vehicles, and the road shoulder side transmitter as new information on the advanced vehicle to a vehicle driving behind the subject vehicle on the same driving lane. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
