PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone set which replies voice guidance in accordance with the opposite party of incoming call on the basis of a simple operation of a user. SOLUTION: Group information showing groups which a plurality of speech called parties respectively belong to is stored in a group information table 610, and answer messages for the respective groups are stored in an answer message table 620. An answer message retrieval part 520 is informed of the telephone number of the incoming call from a caller information processing part 510, and retrieves the answer messages corresponding to the group of the opposite side shown by the telephone number from the answer message table 620. An answer message selection control part 530 displays the retrieved answer messages, and receives key operation for selecting one of them from the user. When an answer message is selected, an answer message transmission control part connects a line, returns the selected answer message to the opposite party and thereafter disconnects the line.
