PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image defects caused by scratches on the surface of a heat roller and to realize high speed fixing in which highly accurate temperature control is required and high image quality color fixing on various kinds of sheets of paper without entailing an increases in the size and cost of a temperature detecting means. SOLUTION: In a fixing device, the temperature detecting means is constructed such that a temperature detection element is disposed on one side of a metal plate and a film having at least a fluorinated carbon resin layer and a thickness of 20μm to 100μm is formed on the other side of the metal plate. Also, the surface of the heat roller is coated with a PFA resin and the surface roughness Ra thereof is in the range of 0.05μm to 0.13μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
