<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion method suppressing fuel consumption to a low level. <P>SOLUTION: An exhaust gas path 3 is connected to an exhaust gas port 2 in a combustion chamber 1 in a combustion device. The downstream end of the exhaust gas path 3 is connected to a fuel re-suction port 4 in the combustion chamber 1, and a radioactive substance 24 is arranged in the exhaust gas path 3. Fuel is combusted in the combustion chamber 1 and radioactive rays are irradiated to steam in the exhaust gas passing through the exhaust gas path 3, so that electrons in outermost shells of respective atoms constituting a water molecule (H<SB>2</SB>O) are excited. Thus, bonds of the hydrogen atoms (H<SB>2</SB>) and the oxygen atoms (O<SB>2</SB>) are cut to generate hydrogen radicals (H-) and oxygen radicals (O-). The hydrogen radicals (H-) and the oxygen radicals (O-) are bonded to each other to generate hydrogen gas (H<SB>2</SB>) and oxygen gas (O<SB>2</SB>).
