PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing corrosion in a treatment facility constructed of stainless steel such as SUS304 and SUS316L, when oxidizing waste water containing an organic sulfur compound such as 3-methylmercaptopropionaldehyde and/or methionine produced in manufacturing methionine through a wet process. SOLUTION: This prevention method includes a step of adding ammonia in such an amount as to adjust a pH of the waste water which has been oxidized in the wet process, to 10 or higher, when oxidizing the waste water containing the organic sulfur compound in the wet process.
