PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate which does not undergo strength deterioration even in long-time use and storage at high temperature and high humidity, suppresses the elution of an alkali component or a glass skeletal component at a very high level, and enhances the work efficiency of an elution treatment. SOLUTION: In the case of conducting ion-exchange reactions by immersing a glass substrate 2 composed of a glass material in a melt containing a lithium salt, different ion-exchange reactions are successively caused to occur at least twice between ions contained in the melt and ions contained in the surface part of the glass substrate 2, by an immersion treatment performed once; thereby, after the successively occurring different ion-exchange reactions, the ion concentrations of two or more kinds of ions present on the surface part of the glass substrate 2 and corresponding to the successively occurring different ion-exchange reactions are changed to values lower than the ion concentrations of the same two or more kinds of ions present in the glass substrate.
